Prior to joining Liberty Square, Mr. Murad served as a senior vice president with public affairs firm O'Neill and Associates in their government relations practice for ten years after a previous ten years of public and private sector government affairs experience at both the state and federal level. Mr. Murad's business and political acumen augmented his clients' strategic marketing efforts. His broad legislative, regulatory and legal background, as well as his extensive network of contacts, enabled him to deliver significant results to his clients. In addition, as a registered Series 65 investment advisor, Mr. Murad led O'Neill and Associates' third-party investment marketing practice, which provided placement agent and third party marketer services for private equity, VC, and hedge funds seeking investments from public pension funds, multi-employer plans and endowments.
Mr. Murad served as an aide to both U.S. Senator John Kerry and former Congressman Joseph P. Kennedy II on policy issues related to public safety, criminal justice, and veterans and military affairs. During this time he made numerous contacts serving as liaison to Massachusetts state agencies, and subsequently joined the Massachusetts House of Representatives as Legislative Counsel and Senior Research Analyst to the Joint Committees on Public Safety and Public Service.
On Beacon Hill, Mr. Murad was involved in all phases of the legislative process and developed an expertise in public policy development and consensus building. He provided sound guidance and assistance to successfully navigate many high profile initiatives into law. Mr. Murad's public service experience also includes legal positions in the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office under Ralph Martin and in the Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General's Trial Division under Scott Harshbarger.
Prior to joining O'Neill and Associates, Mr. Murad served as director of government affairs at a Beacon Hill lobbying firm where he counseled a range of clients on state and federal affairs. He also worked as a market development manager for Sapient Corporation, an S&P 500 enterprise. In that capacity, Mr. Murad successfully developed and implemented marketing plans and target market strategies for Sapient's Public Sector Group. Mr. Murad received his law degree from Suffolk University Law School, where he served as president of the Student Bar Association. Mr. Murad also earned a master's in business administration from Boston College and a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He also served in the United States Army Reserve, D-Troop, 5th Calvary, at Fort Devens. In addition, Mr. Murad has worked on numerous political campaigns for both state and federal candidates, and is a member of the Massachusetts, New York, District of Columbia and Boston Bar Associations.
